We
were in New York recently, visiting a friend, and we walked
by the Joyce Theatre where the Garth Fagan Dance troupe was
performing. Our friend said, "They are really big down
here." Garth Fagen Dance are pretty big in their hometown
as well. They packed Manhattan Square Park a few summers ago and
recently filled The Nazareth Performing Arts Center for a
week where they debuted a beautiful piece choreographed to
a Clement Dodd song performed by Jamaica Jazz. Garth hooked up with Billy Bang after the Rochester Jazz Fest and they collaborated on a piece based on one of Billy's Viet Nam songs. Garth Fagan
has always had great taste in music. They are well worth the
$30 ticket price. Don't miss them next time.
