We were looking forward to seeing the tabla player, Badal Roy, with Dharma Jazz at Max's but Badal Roy was a no show. We had seen him years ago with Ravi Shankar and he plays on Ornette Coleman's "Tone Dialing" and a number of things with John McLaughlin. Dharma Jazz found a pretty good sub in Dan Johnson but the piano player had the better sense of rhythm.
