Look at those tomatoes! Canned tomatoes are a wonderful thing when fresh tomatoes are out of season. I picked that can on the left up at Palermo's on Culver Road. Stewed tomatoes come out of the can completly prepared. I mean the side dish is done. It helps to heat it up a bit but they are seasoned and ready to eat. I hear they even help ward off prostate cancer somehow. Del Monte makes a good can and all the brands I've tried are fine. The Wegmans brand is not nearly as wild a package as the La Bella San Marzano canned tomatoes below but their concoction is as lively as any of the other brands.
