Mike
took us out to Zouté country in an effort to track down
some of his reletives and possibly buy some more paintings.
It didn't work out. I think the famaily viewed Zouté
as somewhat of a nut. Zouté had a Henry Moore sculpture
in his yard. He traveled widely and corresponded with some of
the world's top artists. His painting style was many years ahead
of his time. These photos above were taken in the mid forties.

Below
is Zouté's house in North Rose. It's still there but
Zouté is gone. He died in 1972.

Let's
go inside the Zouté home.

The
sign above says "New York Sugar Industries Inc., Montezuma,
New York, Manufacturers of Quality Sugar." It's one of
many food procesing plants east of Rochester along the Lake
Ontario, orchard lined shore. This is where Zouté's family
made his money.
